Research, appointment availability and government processing are different clocks. These dated snapshots help put the wait in context without predicting your completion date.
RESEARCH CUTOFF · 22 OCTOBER 2026
This is a dated tracker, not a live queue. Each entry states what the source measured and when. Some sources could not be retrieved again during this site build; those limitations are shown below. Confirm the current position with the authority handling your case.
Authority by authority
What the sources say.
A decision estimate is not an appointment estimate. A pending-case count is not a waiting time.

Official estimate recorded in project research
Dated government snapshot; this source could not be re-fetched during the site build. It concerns the decision stage, not a consulate appointment. The ministry separately lists a six-month statutory period with exclusions and possible extensions.
Secondary-source counts recorded by project research. A backlog count cannot predict your completion date. No verified current official processing-time promise is available here.
Measured from receipt of the required documents in the cited research. This snapshot was not re-fetched during the site build. Incomplete files and later demand can change the wait.
Appointment availability depends on the consulate, the service and its booking system.
Check locally
No verified appointment snapshot is published here. Government decision figures above should not be used to infer the next available consulate slot.
Check the consulate responsible for your place of residence. Keep the appointment date separate from the date your complete application reaches the deciding authority.
Knowing the stage makes the next question much more useful.
01
Research and evidence
Find the right acts, read them and test the family links. Folio’s published research targets refer to this stage. Offline archive requests add the archive’s own time.
02
Copies, translations and an appointment
Obtain the document forms the receiving authority requires, arrange any sworn translations and book the appropriate service. A scan used in research may not be sufficient for filing.
03
The authority’s decision
The deciding office reviews the application and may request more evidence. The Poland and Ireland estimates above concern government processing; the German figures describe pending cases.
04
Registration and passport steps
A citizenship decision or registration is not a passport appointment. Further civil-registration, identity-document or passport steps may follow, with separate requirements and availability.
Make the preparation count
Use the waiting time to close evidence gaps.
List the documents already held, the names or dates that conflict and the records still needed. Keep a copy of every request and note when the authority received the complete file.
A complete file can reduce avoidable follow-up. It does not buy priority or guarantee a faster decision.
